The 2025 fall Forestry Challenge season got off to a strong start, as the Shasta event had its largest attendance ever. A total of 115 students from 18 schools participated. Students conducted a survey of an SPI Plantation to make recommendations about future planning and management.
Results are as follows out of a possible score of 250 points:
- First Place: Nevada Union High School Team 21, 208.8 points
- Second Place: Foothill High School Team 7, 201.7 points
- Third Place: Middletown High School Team 19, 201.5 points
- Fourth Place: Grant Union High School Team 11, 187.8 points
- Fifth Place: Etna High School Team 6, 184.3 points
By scoring over 200 points, Nevada Union and Foothill earned an automatic invitation to the Championship event in April 2026.
Ponderosa High School from Shingle Springs won the pacing contest with a distance of 67 feet 5.5 inches, with Foothill in second and Anderson Union and Golden Eagle Charter High Schools coming in joint third.
Other schools at the event were Anderson New Technology, Amador, Gridley, Hayfork, Inspire, Mt. Shasta, McCloud, Shasta, Silicon Valley CTE, and Weed.
