With an incredible turnout this year, the San Bernardino Forestry Challenge Session 2 had 148 students from 18 schools in attendance. The focus topic for this event was to collect data on the Upper Little Bear Mountain Club’s 40 acre parcel of land, taking stock of the conditions after treatment and determining if the project met its stated goals.

The results below are out of a possible 250 points:

  • First Place:  Oceanside High School Team #27, 222.7 points
  • Second Place:  Mariposa County High School Team #20, 213.3 points
  • Third Place:  Granada Hills Charter Team #25, 210.2 points
  • Fourth Place:  Oceanside High School Team #26, 205.7 points
  • Fifth Place:  Mariposa County High School Team #19, 205.3 points

While they had already participated in another event earlier this season, making them ineligible to displace teams competing for the first time, we would like to recognize and congratulate Team #6 from Eleanor Roosevelt Community Learning Center with a score of 221.7, and Team #24 from Granada Hills Charter with a score of 221.2.

Esperanza College Prep won the Pacing Contest, with second place tied between Marco Antonio Firebaugh and Oceanside High Schools, and Santa Maria High School coming in third.

Other schools at the Challenge were: Adolfo Camarillo, Littlerock, John W. North, Riverside Polytechnic, Lynwood, Santana, Vista, Ulysses S. Grant, Options of Youth (Hesparia and Victorville Campuses), and Urban Corps of San Diego County.
