The El Dorado Forestry Challenge was the largest event of the season, with 121 students and 23 teachers/chaperones from 14 schools in attendance. The focus topic was Fuelbreak Establishment After the Caldor Fire. Students collected data in a unit of the Grizzly Flats Community Fuelbreak Project (GFFB) planted in 2024 that did not establish well and determine if interplanting is needed.
The results below are out of a possible 250 points:
- First Place: Bret Harte High School Team 1 – 223.7 Points.
- Second Place: Foresthill High School Team 7 – 216.7 Points
- Third Place: Oak Ridge High School Team 22 – 216.2 Points
- Fourth Place: Mira Loma High School Team 18 – 213.3 Points
- Fifth Place: Granada Hills Charter Team 14 – 210.3 Points
El Dorado High School won the Pacing Contest with a pace of 67’4″ (1’4″ inch deviation). Venture Academy in second, Oak Ridge in 3rd place.
Other schools at the Challenge were: Calaveras, Confluence West, Folsom, Golden Sierra, Sequoia, Sequoia Grove Charter Alliance and South Tahoe.
