With one of the largest crowds ever at a Forestry Challenge event, the Santa Cruz Forestry Challenge had 110 students from 18 schools in attendance. The focus topic for this event was to collect data on a large portion of the Camp Butano project area that had mechanical treatment. The students determined if the treatment meets the Project objectives at Butano Creek Girl Scout Camp in Pescadero.
The results below are out of a possible 250 points:
- First Place: Foresthill High School Team #25, 226.5 points
- Second Place: Foresthill High School Team #24 220.5 points
- Third Place: Woodside High School Team #22, 218.0 points
- Fourth Place: Benicia High School Team #10, 213.5 points
- Fifth Place: Ross School Team #8, 205.5 points
Venture Academy won the Pacing Contest, with Calero High School and Bret Harte High School coming in second and third.
