Highest Scoring Presentation
The 2021 El Dorado Forestry Challenge event was held at a new facility this year, Community of the Great Commission near Foresthill. One of the highlights for the 58 students who participated this year was the opportunity to collect data at Community of the Great Commission and recommend a path that combines harvest and fuel treatment with the goal of protecting the camp from severe damage if and when there is a wildfire.
The results below are out of a possible 250 points:
- First Place: El Dorado High School Team 1, 204.50 points
- Second Place: Golden Sierra High School Team 9, 202.50 points
- Third Place: Golden Sierra High School Team 8, 189.75 points
- Fourth Place: Mira Loma High School Team 11, 189.50 points
- Fifth Place: Vista del Lago High School Team 15, 177.25 points
Vista del Lago High School won the Pacing Contest on a tiebreaker with a pace of 65 feet, 8 inches, with Folsom High School and Eleanor Roosevelt Community Learning Center placing second and third.
Other schools at the event were: Heritage Peak Charter, Ponderosa, and South Tahoe High School.
